yup, f1.8 is the aperture value. a glance over its(lens) opening, you can guess it is about 1 inch wide in diameter. meaning giving a lot more lights to get in, thus easier, faster focus even during low light. however, photos above are switch to f2.8, because f1.8 having too shallow depth-of-view.
